Ready…Set…GO!

BAM!

My final semester at university has begun! I am so excited to finally say those words, er…type those words. Haha! I graduated from high school back in 2008 and it has taken me 8 years to get this far to my final semester to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree. I know that it should only take 4 years to get your Bachelor’s Degree, but I took two semesters off to participate in the Disney College Program internship in Orlando, Florida for a year from 2010-2011. Then 2013-2014 I had to take a year off due to medical problems so that I could recover and get my health back to normal. Finally, I started classes again the Fall of 2015 and now…after all this time, I’m so close to the finish line and I’m so excited to graduate in December!

The best news? Only two classes stand in my way of completing my goal. This last semester, I am taking “Survey of Asian Art” and “Music Appreciation”. Now why those two you may ask? Well, as an Art Major, I am required to take a Music, Theater, or Dance class and I didn’t mean to put it off until my last semester, that’s just how it happened, so Music Appreciation it was. And, I needed one more Art History elective class, and I really am a BIG appreciator of Asian culture, so I just HAD to take that class when I saw it was an option, haha!

So…please wish me luck!

5 days until Camp NaNoWriMo opens for the July test month. I’m very excited and can’t wait to participate. Yay!

But, since I’m trying not to write until it starts, so that I can try to meet my goal of 50,000 words in July, I am starting a comic tonight. Actually, it will be a fanfic comic. I’ve had this story in mind for a while now and I can’t wait to finally start. I may just do story boards tonight and start actual pages tomorrow. I’m not sure, yet. I’ll see what happens when I start.

I finally finished “Playful Kiss” today. Quite a cute series. Again, if you’re into Korean dramadies, I definitely want to suggest that you enjoy this one, too! You can find it on Netflix!

I have so many things on my Netflix list that I want to watch. Lately, I’ve been trying to watch all of the documentaries I have saved. I really like history and enjoy learning about it. So far, I’ve watched segments on King Arthur, Abraham Lincoln, Viking Swords (mostly the Ulfberht), Alexander the Great, Chatsworth, and Marco Polo. I hope to watch many more. I think learning about the past is a good way of looking at things from different points of view, especially when you read the same topic recorded from different countries. It’s always interesting!

…this being said, I must admit that I am a big fan of the anime and manga: “Hetalia”. It combines two of my favorite things: anime and history. Yay!

For the record, each episode is about 5 minutes long and it’s an anime/manga that has personified the countries of the world. The above character who is overly excited is America. He’s goofy and one of the younger countries, supposedly portrayed in his mid-twenties. Overall, for history/anime nerds, I suggest this show, also.

Let’s Go To Camp Together!

Earlier today, I admitted to not knowing what to write but having the urge to write. While I really only did get myself to sit down a type a few words (literally maybe three sentences, if that), I’m not sure that I feel satisfied with that effort. For starters, I was out driving around, running an errand and then getting dinner from Taco Bell, when a thunder and lightning storm rolled in suddenly with 70 MPH wind gusts! So, mom and I took shelter at Taco Bell until the storm let up enough for us to drive safely home. After eating, I tried to write on the paper wrappers that had held my soft-shell taco, but it was a wax-type of paper and the pen the employees let me borrow did not write very well on it.

My pen wouldn't work....

My pen wouldn’t work….so here’s my sad face ^^^

I was determined to type what I had written into my Word document when I finally returned home and did so promptly. I also intended to keep going, but then I got sidetracked by the end of Jeopardy, then Wheel of Fortune, then trying to get the WiFi back up and running so I could get online, and then I put on my latest Korean dramedy: “Playful Kiss”. (By the way, I only watched the first two episdoes of “Shut Up & Let’s Go”. Since (Spoiler), they kill off Byung Hee (who is the only interesting character by far) at the end of the second episode. He’s the one who has the orange eyes, remember? Here’s a photo refresher!):

Byung Hee

Anyway, “Playful Kiss” is much better and more comedy than drama. I highly recommend this show! Suffice to say, though, I never did write any more tonight. I’m planning to make a good part of the day of it tomorrow. Hopefully I can keep myself motivated enough to actually do this.

no motivation

Now, only a few days ago, my best friend since 6th grade (oh my goodness, we first met back in 2001!), and one of my writing buddies, Kels, introduced me to a website called Camp NaNoWriMo! It’s an interweb-tacular (just made-up this mashed-up word) site that promotes NaNoWriMo all year long, by running “practice” months in April and July for hopeful-NanoWriMo’s to get a feel for what November is all about before the actual National Novel Writing Month comes along!

Camp-Participant-2015-Twitter-Profile

This site allows writers from all over the globe to interact and even “share” a cabin together (a cabin can include 11 writers, I think) for the month. It’s basically your own private chat room between you and your cabin-mates so you can not only bounce ideas around, but motivate, and help one another stay on track. Hey, you might even learn some new things about writing…like a more proficient way to outline, or what inspiring music to listen to as you write (I for one am a fan of classical music and movie soundtracks…really, anything orchestral).

Anyway, you can set up your “Writer Profile” and “Writing Projects”, set word count goals and track your progress through the month as you go. It calculates your daily average and what it actually should be for those days you are totallyl being a slacker (I admit to being guilty of this myself), and you can have more than one “Writing Project” going at a time.

While I’ve only just joined myself today, I can already proudly say that I want to recommend this site to any and all fellow writers or aspiring project-takers to try out. Signing up is free and so is the site. Of course, there is the option of donating, which helps the site to operate for free. Oh, and I’m pretty sure that you’re donations can be tax deductable. See this link here from their FAQ section regarding that option: Tax Deductable Option!

Well, if you decide to join me on there, my user name is the same: Soleil Porche …so send me a message and maybe we can make a cabin together and do our best to support and help each other. I think it would be fun! Let’s do our best together!

Look for my words again soon!

Loud and Tasty

Loud. It was very loud last night, until I walked outside at 1 AM and heard what quiet sounded like again. Whew. I went to a bar last night with Kels (who’s been my friend since 6th grade), her boyfriend, and a bunch of his friends. The bar has a dance club attached to it. You go down a hall behind a liquor store to get to the dance floor. There was fog and lasers and super loud music. I had fun, though. Usually, I am not the type of person to go to this kind of place, but I feel that sometimes, it is good to experience. I always feel awkward at first then, after some dancing, I’m good to go. I never drink. I actually don’t drink alcohol, anyway. I don’t like the smell or the taste of pretty much most drinks.

I bought a fan brush today and a detail brush to get some closer work done on my commission. I say it’s coming along nicely, but that’s my opinion, haha! Before purchasing these necessary items, though, I ate lunch with my Dad at Starbucks while he was on break. I ate a delicious mozzerella, baby spinach, and sun-roasted tomato panini with olive oil-basil-garlic pesto:

Oh…so delicious. My mouth waters just thinking about eating another one. Now, I want another, haha! I wonder if the restaurant I am going to with Pepere and my cousin will have something similar that I can order. Hm….

I’ve started a new Korean dramedy today on Netflix: “Shut Up & Let’s Go” about an underground boy band that ends up getting transfered to a rich kids school. It’s a pretty basic plot, so I’m curious what they’re going to do with it. Since the boys in the underground band (Eye Candy, by the way) all seem pretty rough-and-tumble and seem to come from a “poorer” district, and they’ve already developed conflict with a three-man band at their new school, I’m sure that there will be conflict with that.

Anyway, the lead singer of Eye Candy, Byung Hee, seems pretty spontaneous so far. His eyes are captivating! I’m not sure if it’s the black eyeliner that he wears around them, or what, but I swear that in some scenes with really bright sunlight or light, his eyes almost look orange! I wonder if he wears orange-colored contacts in these scenes, or his eyes naturally look like that in bright light! What do you guys thing? Here’s a photo of him:

Twice today, our other dog, Beni, has jumped up and put her paws on the counter to grab at food up there. This morning, she got into Leila’s medicine (so we had to call the vet for two new doses, since that’s how many she got. Since Beni is about 5 times Leila’s weight (Leila weighs 15 lbs, Beni weighs 70 lbs), the vet told us not to be worried about her consuming the medicine. She said she’d be fine. Now, it seems she has just done it again and gotten ahold of the loaf of French bread that Dad brought home today. I just give a little melodramatic sigh over this. I wonder if something’s up with her. Does she want even more attention than usual today? Hm, hm, hm, things to ponder.

Oh, on the other hand, Leila is feeling much better! I can tell because her activity levels have resumed back to normal. Yay!

Please look for my words again soon!

A Variety of Shows

Currently, Naruto is playing on Netflix while I type. I’m only on the first season at the moment, though I have watched this season before, years back. I’m re-watching to refresh my memory a bit before skipping back to where I had been. My younger brother watches with me, but he’s gotten ahead of me to Season 2, watching Naruto episodes while I was watching my Korean shows. Hah, speaking of which, I just finished “Coffee Prince” last night. I will take a small break from these shows to catch up on the movies that I have been collecting onto my List. My tastes range from French movies and shows like “Populaire” (as I’m a French minor, it’s good for audio comprehension, and I highly recommend this particular movie), to “Daddy Long Legs” with Frank Sinatra (I love Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby! -insert heartfelt sigh here-), to anime shows like “Ouran High School Host Club” and “My Bride is a Mermaid”, to documentaries like “Myths in the Museum”, “Egypt”, and “Spy in the Den” animal shows. Plus, I enjoy historical fictions, like “Downton Abbey”, “TURN: Washington’s Spies”, and so on. All in all, I enjoy a variety of show themes and genres, except Horror and Suspense. Oh, and I absolutely am in love with the reboot of BBC’s “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock”!

I want to say more, but I’m not sure what else to type at the moment. Please give me some time. I’ll post again. Look for my words soon!
