Help the Homeless

Yesterday, while out with my Dad, we came across a man with a cardboard sign reading that he was homeless and needed money. Since it was such a hot day out, since I didn’t have any money, I gave him a fresh bottle of water. Today, a boy in ragged jeans and a rumply white t-shirt asked me if I had any cash so he could buy some food. I only have $2 but I gave it to him and went into the Thai and Sushi place I was picking up dinner from and charged for an extra pint of rice and a bottle of coke to give to the kid. He graciously accepted it. I would have gotten him something better, but I wasn’t sure if he had any food allergies and I figured that rice was the best option and that most people like coke. I don’t, but I figured the kid probably would. He was definitely younger than either of my brothers, and probably still in highschool.

When I was younger, I don’t remember ever seeing so many homeless and less-fortunate people in our area. Or, maybe I just didn’t notice because I was just a kid. My Dad always tells me to be careful about giving money to strangers who claim to be homeless and asking for money, that they’ll just turn around and spend it on drugs, but if I was that person out in the hot weather, I’d definitely want a nice cool water bottle. And if I was a kid who politely asked for money for food, I’d appreciate a kind gesture of rice and coke, instead.

Tomorrow, I wake up at 4 AM to begin my babysitting routine again for this week. Good thing I’m already starting to feel tired.

Also, I finished “The Bravest Princess” in E.D. Baker’s “The Wide-Awake Princess” series. It was really good. For anyone who loves fractured fairytales as much as me, I highly recommend this series, or any of the other books that E.D. Baker has written.

As stated before, I have now picked up “Puddlejumpers” by Mark Jean and Christopher C. Carlson. I’ll give an opinion about it after I get farther into it, or after I’ve finished it. At 42 chapters and 328 pages in length, it should take me about a week, if not sooner, to read. So, I’ll keep you posted on that, if you like. Let me know if you like the reviews I give about books and Netflix shows and movies in the comments below!

Another Dog Conspiracy (or just pets, in general) and Recommendations

My poor little Leila has not been feeling well as of late. She, of course, became sick Friday night, so of course the vet was closed until Monday. Oh, Leila is my dog, by the way. She’s just so adorable and I love her very much! I’m glad she’ll be okay. Here’s a photo of her:

Leila

So, today we got her an appointment to go in and she’s been giving medicince to get better. Yay! Sicne we gave her the first dose of medicine today, she’s a bit more lazy than usual. Probably catching up on the sleep she’s lost the past few nights from constantly waking up every night. Poor girl!

While in the office, speaking with the secretary, we were discussing how pets and kids always seem to get sick on weekends. More dog conspiracies! The secretary also informed me that horses are even more finicky, getting sick on nights, weekends, and holidays! I think pets in general like to do these things to us. I think they get a kick out of it, haha!

I really have been trying to catch up on my Netflix list, since it’s over 150+ titles. I just finished “Young & Hungry” starring Emily Osment.

y&h

I found this series really funny. I definitely recommend this if you want a good, laughable, ABC Family rom-com series. With Season 1 on Netflix and Season 2 still airing (as far as I know), you wouldn’t have a hassle trying to catch up quick!

I finished “The Bravest Princess” and am now on Book 4: “Princess in Disguise” of the “Wide-Awake Princess” series. After this book, I have to wait and see if there will be a 5th. I think the next thing I’ll read is “Puddlejumpers” by Mark Jean and Christopher C. Carlson. The title just sounds interesting, right?

Anyway, for now I’m wrapping up because I’m going to watch “Driving Miss Daisy”. Oh, I watched the original 1960s “The Odd Couple” movie yesterday. I would recommend this classic, too!

Time With Pepere, Life, and Top Favorite Authors!

Firstly, I am super excited that I do not have to wake up at 4 AM for the whole of next week, yay!

Secondly, I spent my day out with Pepere (my grandfather). We had a lovely lunch together at the local diner, then we went to Home Depot together with my Mom (his daughter). Mom wandered off to look at storage, and Pepere and I stuck together, finding the things he needed. Since he wants to redo his roof this summer, we gathered together roofing nails, and roofing caulk. We also got common nails, 5 new saw blades, and a pack of hook blades. I like shopping with Pepere. Actually, I like spending any time with Pepere. We talk a lot and usually have some pretty deep conversations about religion and life. It’s really nice. I like when he talks to me about it, and I’m glad that it’s stuff we can talk about together. My brothers don’t spend much time with him, so I think I’m the only one out of his 6 grandchildren (I’m also the oldest out of these 6) that he converses with this like. I feel honored.

Tomorrow, I want to take the pile of bricks to the dump that I have collected. Since I demolished our outdoor brick fireplace with a sledgehammer earlier in the week, I haven’t had time to do so, yet. So, I’ll do that in the morning. Then, I want to spend the rest of my day painting and tidying up my room. I may take some more clothes and things to Goodwill, also. If not tomorrow, then Sunday. I have recently decided that I have too many things and have been trying to slim down on my posessions. My room is just too small to have so much stuff in it. Plus, I don’t wear a lot of the clothes I’ve been giving away, anyway, and I’m sure that other people could use it more.

Jae is very far ahead of me in Naruto. About 20 episodes, or so. I tease him every time I see him watching an episode. I tell him to watch something else so that I can catch up. He just laughs and keeps watching. What a considerate brother. Aish….

Have you ever read any fractured fairy tales? I believe that I once mentioned before that Fractured Fairtytales are one of my favorite types of sub-genre. I do know that I said I am currently reading E.D. Baker’s “The Bravest Princess” which is part of the “Wide-Awake Princess” series. Aside from E.D. Baker, I also enjoy reading books by Gail Carson Levine, Cornelia Funke (my favorite book by her is “The Thief Lord”, but she’s more famous for her “Inkheart” series), JK Rowling (Harry Potter, obviously), JRR Tolkien, TA Barron (his Merlin’s “Lost Years” series is outstanding!), and Brian Jacques (I grew up on his “Redwall” series!!! Ah…brave, little Mathias — “I am that is”!)! There are plenty more authors, too, but these seven authors are my top favorites! They inspire me when I write and I hope to be as great as them some day.

I think this is it for now. I want to read some more before bed. …I feel like this is turning into a reading and writing blog, haha! No worries, it will continue to be random and chipper, I think.

An Altered Schedule

Babysitting is going well and I’m proud to say I have been on time every day so far. Yay! This is a big accomplishment, as I’m not usually a morning person. Recently, I found out that I’m borderline anemic, so that could explain why I’m always tired and have trouble waking up in the morning (even after 8+ hours of sleep!).

Oh, a change in my babysitting schedule today, though! My hours have been extended to 4 AM until 4 PM due to the youngest ended up getting sick this morning. So, after cleaning up the mess…(I almost got sick myself, and the smell…yuck! I must say, I might be scarred for life and I haven’t even had kids of my own, yet!), I texted his mother and she asked if I would mind staying here with him, instead of sending him to school. I said that it was not a problem, so, here I am at their house still, taking care of him. I think he’s feeling better. He’s up and about now and hasn’t thrown up in a few hours now. He’s wandering around the house trying to find the cat, Asher.

I still have yet to make rice porridge. Our rice cooker does not have a porridge setting, so I have to use stove top directions, instead. I’ve never been a fan of stove-top-cooked rice, but for the sake of trying something new, I’ll give it a try.

Also, I need to keep working on my commission painting. I planned to do some painting today, but now my schedule is a bit changed up. Ah…I had planned on sending some updated in-progress pictures to the client today, too….

I’m still waiting to hear back from Disney about my job request. According to the Dashboard on http://www.disneycareers.com, my submission is still pending. I hope to hear back soon, though. I really do want this job. It’s my dream job. Well, it’s in God’s hands now. I can just hope and pray in the meantime.

I think, since we can’t find a controller to operate the Xbox with to put Netflix on, I’ll let him watch Netflix through his phone, and I’ll try to do some writing. Or, I’ll read. I’ve started a new book. It’s the third in the “Wide Awake Princess” series by E.D. Baker. I love E.D. Baker’s books! She mainly focuses in fractured fairytales, which are my favorite. Anyway, the third book is “The Bravest Princess”. Since I liked the previous two, I’m sure this one will meet my standards for the story-line.

Look for my words again soon!

Cheers!
